Everyday Magic with Sharon Blue of Blue Empress Tarot
On this week’s ‘Magic on the Inside’ podcast, Sara spoke with Sharon Blue, one of our Sisters Enchanted community members and founder of Blue Empress Tarot, where she combines her counseling work with her intuitive work.
Sharon is mom to two boys, aged five and two and lives in the middle of the country in St Louis, Missouri. She was a school counselor for many years, before becoming a stay-at-home mom with her two boys.
Sharon says:
“I’ve been reading tarot for forever. I got my first deck when I was in high school. Then had a brief witchy hiatus during college and early kid life. Then I came back to it about four and a half years ago. It just became part of my life. It was what I was doing consistently.”
“With COVID and me being a stay-at-home mom and realizing that I needed something else, I was like, “Hey, I can help people with tarot and combine all of my counseling skills and put them all together so we can see where you are, where you need to be. Then I can give you some tools to help you along that path – and Blue Empress Tarot was born.”
How Sharon Brings Everyday Magic into Her Busy Family Life
Like many of us, Sharon has a hectic and busy life with her boys, a household and a business to run.
“I think the trick is just keep it simple and make it doable”
Sharon loves using candles in her everyday magic and will go and candles in bulk and every color. She does candle lightings in the mornings with her two boys, aligning the candles to the color correspondence to the ruling planet for the days of the week, thus harnessing the planetary energy of the day. This practice is not only a tie of shared daily magic but is also how her eldest son learned all of his planets!
She and the boys set their intentions for the day in the car on the way to school.
“We’ll be talking about, “Well, what do you want this day to look like? How do you want it to go? At the end of the day, how do you want to feel? When mommy comes to pick you up, what do you want to tell me that you did today?”
They also have a family mantra. “What’s our number one rule? Be kind.”
Sharon says,
Sometimes her eldest son will help clear the house, which they also do in a fun and magical way,
“If bad things go away, good things can stay.”
Sharon says, “He loves sage. If he’s in a bad mood, he’ll be like, “I think I need some sage.”
Sharon explains how all of this comes together in her magic,
“I feel like it adds to the witchcraft. For example, on a Sunday. I would say,
- Today is the day of the sun. I’m thinking – Okay, so what does sun mean?
- Then I go ahead and relate it to like the sun card in tarot. I’m like – it relates to childhood joy.
- I’m like – Here you have childhood joy!
- Charge my candle so I can have childhood joy.”
“You see things through different eyes. That’s kind of what magic is, is being able to see the magic in the mundane.”
How Sharon Turned her Tarot Hobby into a Tarot Business
“Honestly it started with The Sisters Enchanted ‘Tarot Throwdown’. I had been doing it for so long and I had my view of it, but I had never actually studied tarot. When I was reading for other people, I was using my intuition a lot, but I didn’t really know what to call it, just saying it works. If I was going to start charging for this, I thought I should have some credentials behind me at some point besides my master’s in counseling.”
“I saw Sisters Enchanted Tarot Throwdown and thought, this will be great. Maybe there’s something I’m missing. Let me learn the basics and get back to the learning aspect. I took ‘Tarot Throwdown’, then Tarot Journey’ and started learning more. That really built my confidence to be able to say – This is something I am good at.
“This is something where I can see things that other people might not be able to see. I can help people identify their blocks and then find a way through them by helping them to set goals and become kind of accountable for the things in their life that they’re refusing to deal with. Because what is counseling if not shadow work?”
“My entire life has been about shadow work. I just didn’t know that it was shadow work.”
At the Sisters Enchanted, we like to teach tarot as a tool to help with growth and personal development, to get to where you want to go and to stay the course. Sharon’s runs her Tarot business with the ideology,
“I want you to walk away with something. I want you to walk away with a plan. I want you to walk away with newfound confidence. I want you to walk away knowing what your strengths are and how to use them.” It’s like, “I want you to leave this session with something, becoming a better version of yourself slowly but surely and let me help you along that way.”
Magic is all About Intention, Alignment and Authenticity
Sharon uses The Sisters Enchanted Moon Journal to set and track her intentions with the Lunar Phases.
“It’s been really helpful because I’m finding that as I am writing every night based on where we are with the moon and with my intention, I’m also able to track kind of my energy for the day. I have learned when my energy is lower versus when my energy is higher, which doesn’t always match up to the lunar energy. But I’ve found that really doing that journal every single night keeps me focused on my intention.”
“I think one of the things that The Sisters Enchanted does that’s so amazing is also adding in that element of not only is the intention aligned with what you want, but is the intention aligned with who you are authentically?”
“I think magic is you! You are the magic!
If you are not being your authentic self, then the magic is not going to be aligned with who you are and what you are trying to achieve.
“You have to make sure that your intention is not something that you think other people want for you or you’re doing it because you think this is what you’re supposed to do. It needs to be what you authentically want and come from that.”
Sharon’s Top Tips for Anybody Wanting to Make Their Life More Magical
- Relate it back to that be authentically you.
- Find what works for you – If you’re not a fire person, then don’t light candles. If you’re not a water person, then don’t take baths. Find the thing that works for you and the thing that makes you feel like, “Ah, this is right. This feels right.” Then do that thing.
- It’s all about you becoming the best version of you possible. Part of that is learning who you are and learning what makes you happy and then just sprinkling some magic on top of that.

Love this. I have been asked to be a sign that I am not. It threw me off for months.
