Pull the Death tarot card and if the person you’re reading for (or if you’re pretty new to tarot yourself) doesn’t know what that card means, they tend to shrink back a little bit. Let’s be real, the word ‘death’, a skeleton riding a horse, and the Grim Reaper aren’t exactly things that we associate with daffodils and rainbows.
When you look at the character of Death in fairy tales you will find that Death isn’t a person or creature or whatever it is exactly that is running around trying to collect souls. On the contrary, Death is often down for a game. Death serves as a reminder that we all have the choice in what it is that we choose to pursue. We all have free will and we are all tested by the comfort we seek versus the discomfort that will get us there.
The standard image of the Death card depicts people of all economic classes dead or dying, serving as a reminder to us that we are all together in the human experience of endings.
