New Moon in Cancer

Nurturing your inner crab

The New Moon is a super amazing time to step back and look at yourself. It’s a time to analyze what it is you’re doing to live your life full of intention. Those who consider themselves the nurturers, the “mom friends” might especially be drawn to look into themselves during this time, as this encouraging and supportive cancer energy may have those feeling extra motherly! What else can you expect? You may find that you’re feeling more protective of those around you, but also yourself. Family and other domestic issues may take more priority during this time as well, as cancer rules over the fourth house, family. You can also use these heightened emotions to really plant your seeds of intention for the coming lunar cycle and encourage them to fruition!

Let’s talk a little bit about the crab, Cancer. All the astrological things in the sky have their own relationships- they have places that they love to be and places that they maybe don’t love quite as much. The moon loves cancer, the moon is at home in cancer. They’re good friends! So, during this time with the moon in cancer and the sun in cancer, our nurturing side may be propelling itself to the forefront! Cancer, as a crab, carries its home with it everywhere it goes on its back, so as Cancers are challenged, you may find they retreat into their shells, their safe space. However, crabs don’t just retreat, crabs will give you a big old pinch if they think you deserve it. The crab has options! It can choose the best way to nurture itself- retreat or defend, much like all of us!

The sign of cancer in astrology is a water sign and rules over the fourth house in Astrology. The fourth house is the house of home and family and can be characteristic of a mothering, nurturing figure. This figure of course does not actually have to be a mother at all! For some of us, the most nurturing figure in our lives could be an aunt, a sister, a cousin, maybe even a good friend! But alas, we cannot always rely on others to nurture us. We need to learn how to encourage and support ourselves as well!

So, how are we nurturing ourselves during this New Moon in cancer?

Here’s some suggestions!

• Listen to this weeks podcast on the cancer new moon
• Think about your home space-
• Do a home clearing spell
• Declutter
• Clean with intention!
• Water magic!
• Charge up some water with your intentions for this moon cycle
• Charge a jar or other container with intention, remember these intentions whenever you drink from it!
• Consider how you feel in your home. Not just your house, but your body as your home. Your body is the truest form of your home, it carries your soul around everywhere, your purest home! Your body is your vessel, how do you feel in it? Do you feel safe? Secure? Loved? Think about doing some work surrounding your body and how you can begin feeling better in it! What are some things you can do to feel better about yourself and your body?

• Get moving! Anything from a basic workout to dancing around your living room (or flailing, if you’re anything like us)
