As the Gemini New Moon watches over us, it invites us to reflect on our daily actions and words, recognizing them as spells that shape our reality. To best shape that reality we can bring practices into our lives that help us reclaim our energy, calm our inner self, and stay in chakra expansion. Here’s a look at how I get present in my body to expand my inner self, along with some  practices from our community.

My Daily Practices for Inner Calm and Energy Reclamation

Walking: My Grounding Ritual

Walking is my sanctuary. I walk 3-5 miles a day, finding calm in the rhythm of my steps and the beauty of nature around me. I live on a busy street  and space constraints mean I don’t have room for a treadmill. Instead, I head to nearby hiking areas where the trails or use a walking pad that fits neatly under my sofa for those days when stepping out isn’t an option. This simple yet significantly impactful practice helps me connect with my body and clear my mind.

Exercising with Resistance: Moving Energy Through

When energy feels particularly pent up, I turn to resistance exercises. Whether it’s weightlifting or resistance band workouts, these sessions help me move stagnant energy through my body, leaving me feeling refreshed and revitalized. It’s a powerful way to release tension and bring my mind and body back into harmony.

Acupressure Mat: For When Things Are Really Spikey

My acupressure mat is an unconventional but highly effective tool in my practice. At first, lying on the spikey surface felt strange, but over time, it has become an essential part of my routine. The mat stimulates pressure points, promoting relaxation and helping me become more present. It’s a unique way to calm my inner self and prepare for deep work in all areas of life.

Sauna Blanket: The Forced Pause

There are moments when I need a forced pause, a way to stop myself from trying to do everything at once. Enter the sauna blanket. This heated cocoon forces me to sit down, relax, and simply be. Sweating has numerous benefits and the sauna blanket provides a space for me to let go of stress and recalibrate my energy (be sure to check that this is okay for you to do if you have any medical indications!).

The Power of Music

Music is my constant companion. I listen to it all day, every day. Upbeat tracks help keep my energy high no matter what. Music profoundly impacts my mood and state of mind. It’s an integral part of my personal and spiritual practice, setting the tone for everything I do.

Weeding and Physical Activity

For some, the act of weeding or engaging in other physical activities helps to channel energy and bring a sense of accomplishment. The physical exertion combined with the focus required can be incredibly grounding. I’ve been known to ‘rage lop’ and cut down big stubborn weeds when my energy is pent up.

Yoga is a beloved practice that combines movement, breath, and mindfulness. It helps to align the body and mind, promoting balance, flexibility, and inner peace.

Creative Outlets: Painting and Cooking

Engaging in creative activities like painting or cooking allows for the expression of the soul’s desires and emotions. And both are excellent ways to bring magic into your daily life through herb or color associations!

Simple Pleasures: Fruit Water and Cozy Blankets

Sometimes, it’s the simple pleasures that make the biggest difference. Drinking fruit-infused water and snuggling under a cozy blanket can be incredibly comforting and nurturing, providing a sense of peace and well-being.

Foam Rolling: Releasing Tension

Foam rolling is another effective way to release physical tension and improve muscle recovery. It’s a practical tool for maintaining physical health and supporting overall well-being.

Eating Well: Nourishing the Body

Nourishing the body with healthy, wholesome foods is fundamental to maintaining energy and vitality. A balanced diet supports both physical and mental health, enhancing one’s ability to stay present and aligned with their purpose.

(note – breath work can sometimes induce anxiousness in those who are prone to panic attacks so know yourself and what works for you!)

Getting outside barefoot, also known as grounding or earthing, is a simple yet powerful way to connect with the Earth’s energy. This practice can help to stabilize the body’s energy and promote a sense of calm and well-being.
