Join Sara and Anna this week as they discuss sacred spaces for busy people

Creating a sacred space for ourselves is something that can get forgotten or brushed over when we have busy, hectic lives. In the age of Instagram, it can be easy to feel that a sacred space must be something we cultivate with perfectly placed things. It can be easy for anybody who lives a life that is overflowing with things to do to think that there just isn’t the time to spend on such a project. We can totally relate to that! If you are one of those busy people you need that sacred space more than anybody. So how can you create a space and make it work for you?

What is a Sacred Space?

For Anna, sacred space means a space in her house that brings her some sort of peace or joy. This can be as simple as a plant with a crystal beside it, or little nooks and corners – lots of little spaces, decorated precisely to bring joy. One of these sacred spaces is a place that invites her to sit down with a cup of coffee in the morning and journal, write, pull cards, to sit and enjoy that space, and do something that’s not work. It is so important to have a special place to relax, somewhere that is a non-workspace.

For Sara, that sacred space is anything. It could be just you and your breath, and your energy right now. The intent of a sacred space is what is important.  A sacred space is anywhere where you can create space for yourself, to be present, to slow down, to cast your vision, practice gratitude and hear your intuition. It is an invitation to pause and can be mental, physical, emotional or spiritual.

Creating Sacred Space in a Busy, Hectic Life

If you are like Sara, a business owner and a homeschool mom with a small house and limited physical space, sacred space can be very hard to come by. Like Sara, you may have tried setting up a space that with cards or crystals and later find most of them in a pile of your child’s things.  Animals, especially cats, really like to show up there in your sacred space and knock everything to the floor!

We all have these challenges that make it difficult for us to make sacred space but all we really need is just a little area of cultivated goodness. It could be as simple as a little plate where you put your favorite coffee mug and a special spoon you use just for stirring intentions into a drink.

While Anna has delightful little sacred spaces throughout her house, Sara is a big fan of the quest pack. She is the tote bag lady!  She keeps special items that she wants with her in a tote bag, ready to go and create a little sacred space at any time and place to do whatever she needs to feel more joyful, or relaxed, or just take advantage of time to herself at a moment’s notice.

Yourself as Sacred Space

You yourself are a sacred space! Wherever you are, and however hard it is to carve out physical space, you can sit on the floor or in a chair, breathe, close your eyes and visualize yourself in a space that feels sacred to you, that feels like your happy place. Whether it be the beach, a forest, the mountains, or a fictitious fairy cottage that you’ve developed in your mind’s eye.  You can send yourself there energetically and enjoy all the benefits of that sacred space.

Creating Your Own Sacred Space

  • Consider it – what do you need right now to pause, to listen, to set an intention, to come back to an intention, to reconsider where you want to be, what you want to know, what you want to ask for?
  • Visualize it – what does this space look like – is it a physical space, is it somewhere you can visit or create in your mind?
  • Create it – You can create a quest pack like Sara or set up little small spaces like Anna. You can have one item, like a tea or coffee tray, a pillow that you sit on or lean up against, or a shawl that you put over your shoulders. It can be one thing. It could be a place that you walk or drive to or that place you find in your mind.

Get Quiet and Hear Your Inner Voice

Sacred space is about living intentionally, coming back to yourself, sitting with yourself and your thoughts, getting quiet. It is somewhere that enables you to hear your intuition, your inner voice. This is so important as your inner voice is where your best and biggest ideas can be found. The things you truly can manifest and create into being when you sit quietly enough to hear your inner voice call saying, “This is what you want. This is the next thing. This is what you’re going to do.”

We have a brand new, free class coming up that we are only offering one time this year on February 8th. It is called How to Amplify Your Inner Voice: Hearing What You Want and How To Ask For It. So, be sure to register for that below!

We hope to see you there! In the meantime, get out there, and make some sacred space for yourself. You deserve it!
