The Aries New Moon

On this week’s ‘Magic on the Inside’ podcast Sara and Anna discussed the Aries New Moon, coming up for us next Monday, 12th April, and how to work with this assertive, fiery energy.

We are all certainly feeling that Aries fire and excitement here at The Sisters Enchanted with the start of a new enrolment in our Holistic Witchery program, when new people come in and they’re super excited and people that have been in the community for Holistic Witchery for a long time, get excited to see that new people are coming along and getting excited. We in Team TSE get really energized too behind the scenes because every quarter, it’s like the first day at school feeling when we are thinking up ways to make everything even better, more fun and exciting.

Working with Aries New Moon and the Spring Season

Aries New Moon is an exciting and powerful Moon to work with because Aries has so many energetic synchronicities so like what a New Moon stands for. Aries has a fighting, warrior energy.  It is a particularly good time to dive in if you are really motivated to make a change or determined to do something big in your life. Aries is the beginning of the Zodiac, a new energy full of ideas, originality, creativity. In the Northern Hemisphere, the Sun in Aries marks the beginning of the Spring so, seasonally, this a great time to consider what passions you are creating for yourself.

Think, reflect, journal…

  • What seeds are you planting that you really want to tend and nurture and see them into bloom?
  • Where are you wanting to direct your new ideas and your creativity?
  • What are you willing to fight for?

Using Aries in your Birth Chart to Help Focus Your Intention

We all tend to have so much going on and so much to focus on it can be really difficult to find that one clear intention to work with through a Moon Cycle. One way to get some clarity is to look where the New Moon, through its current Zodiac Sign, is touching your Birth Chart. So, for this New Moon you can look to see where Aries is in your chart to get some idea of where its energy could be particularly strong for you. Lunar intentions are those that involve how we want to feel, rather than Solar goals that are all about getting things done and checking things off do lists.

For example:

Sara has Aries in the middle of her Tenth House, the house of business and careers, and ruling her Eleventh House, the house of society and friendships. For Sara, her Aries New Moon intention could be around something that her passions around business, society or friendships, something she feels really strongly about, something that is worth fighting for and will make her feel the way she wants to feel in these areas of life.

Anna has Aries ruling both her Fifth House, the house of your own creativity and finding yourself, and her Sixth House, the house of self-care, health but in order to be of service to others as you can’t help others if you don’t take care of yourself and are not healthy. Anna has both Jupiter, the planet of expansion and opportunity and her North Node, her Soul’s destiny, in Aries. Choosing a focus and intention for this New Moon is interesting as Aries in both of those places, one that’s very in service, but one that’s also very spotlighting on the self means that Anna could decide to back myself this cycle and work on some independent growth or to back somebody else.

Think, reflect, journal…

  • Where is Aries in your Chart?
  • Is there anything in that area of life you feel driven towards to focus your creativity and intention for this Lunar Cycle?

Try an Aries New Moon Ceremony

Aries is a mighty Fire sign but it’s energy can be a bit uncontrolled if you don’t harness and direct it on strong intentions. You can do this in a ceremony with some fire.  You sit with a fire, light some candles, have a spicy or cinnamon tea. As you’re setting your New Moon intention, surround yourself with reds, yellows, oranges and just absorb in that Aries new Moon energy.

Use Tarot to Harness and Direct the Fire and Focus in on your Intentions

Anna as both a Tarot and astrology reader, finds it useful to explore astrological associations with tarot associations. For her, Aries is like the Knight of Wands energy, always ready to go into battle into the dark woods to get to where it needs to go with his lit torch. But he didn’t realize that his torch is too hot and the woods are too dry. And he caused a whole forest fire behind him while trying to save the day. Sometimes all the best intentions are there, but sometimes there’s just so much happening and there’s so much fire and passion.

We have a Tarot Spread you can use to explore and harness your Aries energy. You could place the Knight of Wands in the middle of your spread to represent Aries and pull the cards on the spread around him to see where you need to direct that energy for this Moon Cycle.

If you are in our Enchanted Journey, Holistic Witchery or Tarot Communities, do share your intentions and Tarot spreads in the group.  If you’re in our free our Expedition to Soul Facebook group, head over there and share all this good stuff with us too.
