Summer Solstice is just under a week away, on June 21st, so now is the time to plan your celebrations and make sure you have everything at hand to enjoy your best Summer Solstice ever.

What is the Summer Solstice?

Summer Solstice  is the longest and brightest day of the year. It is also known as Litha or Midsummer, for from then on in, the days begin to shorten as we move gradually towards autumn.

Our top tips for your Summer Solstice celebration

  1. Hold an outdoor feast

The Summer Solstice was traditionally a time for gathering around a fire to share stories and songs. Why not invite family and friends for an evening, fire lit celebration. Ask them to bring a favorite tale or story, a favorite song and some food to share for an al fresco potluck feast.  Early summer fruits and honey have long been enjoyed at the Solstice, with mead (honey wine) a traditional Midsummer tipple.

  1. Have a midday dance party

Dance with family and friends or alone like no one is watching. With the sun shining above you- let loose and give all your energy to the earth and the sun to awaken your soul and shake things up.

  1. Fill your home with Midsummer energy

Treat yourself to some new houseplants and/or crystals. Choose crystals that celebrate the power of the Sun.  Sun Crystals include Sunstone, Amber, Citrine, Golden Calcite, Yellow Jasper, and Golden Quartz.

  1. Capture the Midsummer Light and Warmth for the coming winter

Calcite is a super magical stone that can both hold and generate light and warmth. Why not buy yourself a Golden Calcite for a Midsummer treat and then place it in a sunny place in your house to store the power of the Sun over the second half of the summer. Then, when winter comes, place the stone in the center of your home, or a place where you most need light and warmth and the joy the Summer Sun brings.

5. Make a fairy garden.

This is a super fun thing to do, especially with children. Go on a nature walk together and collect sticks, leaves, stones, acorns and other natural elements you find lying around, then make a fairy garden in your yard or at the base of a tree.
