It’s all Just Hocus Pocus

All of us at Team TSE are super excited for the new Hocus Pocus sequel. But is everything we teach and share here at the Sisters Enchanted just a pile of hocus pocus? And if it is, does it matter?

These are the questions Sara Walka, Founder and Head Magic Maker here at TSE posed in this week’s Expedition to Soul podcast.

Failure

Before we consider if using all the tools like working with astrology, candles, herbs, crystals, affirmations and spells, energy centers and following the phases of the Moon is all nothing but hocus pocus, let’s think about failure and how it feels when we think we are failing. No, we haven’t just gone off on a random tangent, there is a link!

All of us at some times in our lives feel like we are failing, many of us will regularly feel a failure in some way. This may be a sense of failing at keeping up with a spiritual practise, not using crystals and herbs as consistently as we planned, not keeping up with a Lunar Cycle after making our best intention with the New Moon and really planning to follow it through the time, not getting around to clearing out the closets this weekend.

Life places so much expectation on us it is almost impossible not to feel we have failed at something, often much of the time. And feeling a failure is pretty cruddy and soul destroying right?!

This is exactly why we teach the things we teach here at The Sisters Enchanted.

These little ways to inject some everyday magic into our lives can help us to achieve the things we set out to do and help us to succeed and not fail in our intentions, especially if these intentions are what we REALLY want for ourselves, and not something we feel pressured to do because others want them for us.

Now if you live a life full of busy days crammed with so many things that it is impossible to do them you could be forgiven for thinking that adding in another expectation, to make your life magical and follow a spiritual practice is just yet another thing to fail at!

The secret here is to take something that you do already and make it magical.

Making the Mundane Magical

If you are signed up to our ‘Season of the Witch’ gifts you would have received a PDF last week with ideas on making a morning potion.

This is a super easy way to make something mundane magical in a way that will help you to do the things you set out to do and avoid feelings of failure.

You can make something as simple as a morning cup of tea, coffee or fruit juice into a magical ritual simply by turning it into a ritual. You can sprinkle on cinnamon, create a space with a photograph or other image, a crystal, a tarot or oracle card relating to your intention, a written affirmation or something from nature, like an acorn that feels abundant with the possibility of growing into an oak tree.  You can then charge your drink with the energy you have surrounded it with, make an intention around what you need to get done this day and drink it in with all that energy you added to the moment.

Likewise, you can take your last drink of the day and use it to drink in a sense of accomplishment and peace, to use the moment to breath out all the things you need to release from the day to enable you to have the true restful and restorative sleep you need to be able to do the things you need to in the next day. Light a candle as you drink it, hold a crystal, sit with an affirmation, focus on an energy center that feels blocked and unspacious.

Connecting these moments with the things you want to get done helps you to remember why it is you want to accomplish them. It really doesn’t take any extra effort or time at all when you piggy back this onto something you are already doing.

So is it all Hocus Pocus?

So, are these moments of mindful magic just hocus pocus?

If they help you to get the things done that you want to get done, if they make your life feel more intention-focused, abundant and purposeful then we don’t think so.

That is why we teach you tools and ideas that will help you to call on your inner power and guide you to explore what an authentic, intention filled life looks with you and how to achieve it.

If these things give you energy, focus your attention and remind you of your intentions so you don’t get distracted and sidetracked from the things you truly want to do, then they can’t just be a pile of hocus pocus.

And if they are, does it matter if they help you to create space and order to really think about what it is you want to do and how you want to feel?

These moments of everyday magic are touch points to help you remember how you want to feel and what you need to do to get there.

And they are so easy to do.

We think it is a bit of fantastical hocus pocus to recenter yourself and bring a sense of power and delight, enchantment and magic into your every day.

We can always use this to bring us some hope and a reminder of our confidence and power in ourselves to create what we want into our lives.

So, if you are feeling like a failure in all of the things, bring a magical moment into your life.

And a top tip for success is to do it when you’re already doing something else.

Create potions with whatever you are already drinking because it’s easy, you are already doing it.

It’s super easy to take something practical and make it magical, to take these habits you already have and turn them into little rituals to bring the magic into your life.

So, in celebration of Hocus Pocus 2 think about whether this is all hocus pocus and what does it matter if it’s helping you?

If it’s helping you to get to where you want to go, that’s what matters and all of the tools, the crystals, herbs, potions and Moon Signs can help you get to where you want to go, with intention and with purpose
