Litha, Midsummer, Summer Solstice, whatever you want to recognize it as, the season is upon us!

The longest day of the year is celebrated with fairy magic, by honoring the bees, surrounding oneself with flowers, and opening to the abundance to come.

This turn of the Wheel of the Year invites us to practice gratitude for the creatures and plants the make it so we can live this life. It’s an invitation to recognize abundance in all its forms and allow yourself to be the truest form of you.

With the sun shining bright, consider what it is that you want to create more of between now and August 1.

In this week’s podcast episode, Anna and I reflected on the story of the Goddess sometimes known as the Queen of the Fae, Aine. She teaches us powerful lessons in being in control of yourself and your future

And this is exactly the kind of energy that Litha brings our way. What are you taking control of? What future are you determining for yourself?

We’ve got a whole list of celebration ideas for you in our Litha Sabbat Guide, but I’ll get you started with a few here:

  • Make sun tea- simply place loose leaf or bagged tea in a large jar or pitcher (might need a few tea bags if using those) and cover the tea while it sits in the sun to brew! A fun addition would be to add a grid of flowers and stones around the tea while it brews.
  • Have a midday dance party with the sun shining above you- let loose and give all your energy to the earth and the sun to awaken your soul and shake things up.
  • Bless your houseplants with little trinkets or crystals for a few days- houseplants can be amazing invitations for a little fairy energy in your home (if you want to invite that in, of course!).
  • Enjoy some local honey or mead- or get wild and make your own!
  • Try something totally new for you- making your own mead, anyone?
  • Create a fairy garden- we love to do this with sticks, leaves, stones, acorns and other natural elements that we find laying around. We position them to look like little furniture at the base of a tree!
