I just love looking at a bloody heart after it has been stabbed with three giant swords.

Said by no one ever.

Same goes for the image of a person lying face down with ten swords sticking out of their back.

Like, wow, that looks like a good time ::insert sarcastic eye roll::

The Suit of Swords in tarot is arguably the most disturbing to look at but is the one that brings the greatest lesson.

Isn’t it always the hard stuff that brings the greatest lessons?

The Swords cards are all about thought, perception, and communication. What are you thinking? How are you perceiving your past and present? Why are you communicating the way you are with both yourself and with others?

Here are a few exercises for you to try:

Lay the Swords cards out in front of you and consider the light and shadow of each card in terms of perception…what are two different ways of thinking about that card?

Consider a situation in your life right now that is really bringing you down. Choose a couple of swords cards and consider how you can change your perception of the situation.

Communication, like a sword, can have a direct and lasting impact on a person.

And, our perception and thoughts of and around a situation can have the same lasting effect.
